Labour minister Santosh Gangwar reiterated that the labour codes enacted by his government will help workers become self-reliant in coming days besides improving the ease of doing business in the country.
The minister, however, expressed his regret that the opposition chose not to discuss these Bills in Parliament, which he said has brought historical benefits to not only crores of the uncovered workers but also introduced several improvements for those already being covered.
“In addition to promoting unprecedented labour welfare and gender equality, these labour codes would also help increase ease of doing business,” he said as per the statement issued by labour ministry on Saturday. The minister was speaking at the national conference of the PHD Chamber of Commerce and later addressed the national conference of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh.
Commenting on the farm related bills passed in the Parliament recently, Gangwar said that the new farm laws are aimed at providing marketing freedom to farmers for selling their produce anywhere in the country.
Elaborating on farmer friendly initiatives of NDA government he informed that budget of the agriculture ministry has been increased 11 fold to Rs 1.34 lakh crore from Rs 12,000 crore in 2009-10 during the UPA regime. Brushing aside the apprehensions about scrapping of.
Gangwar sought support from the industry to help government achieve the goal of making India a $5 trillion economy. According to the statement, minister Gangwar underlined that growth and expansion of enterprises contribute to rise in employment as also improved working conditions.
As per the statement, minister Gangwar emphasised that labour reforms are path breaking and game changer as some of the archaic laws awaiting reforms have been in existence for more than 73 years. “Efforts have also been made to ensure ease of doing business by having a new regime of one registration, one licence, one return in place of multiplicity of them earlier,”he said, reiterating that extensive consultation with all stakeholders were held before finalising these Codes.
The President has recently given his assent to the three labour codes passed in Parliament including the code on social security, code on industrial relations and code on occupational safety, health and working conditions.
