ESIC Relaxed Condition Under COVID-19 Relief Scheme

The ESIC vide notification No. N-12/13/01/2019-P&D has relaxed the eligibility condition for providing relief under the Covid-19 relief scheme, which should have been paid or payable during a maximum period of one year immediately preceding the diagnosis of COVID-19 disease resulting in death. The Authority has reduced the minimum eligible period of contribution to thirty-five days from the earlier seventy days.

Government of India vide notification G.S.R. 271( E) has declared Thursday, the 14th April, 2022, as a Closed Holiday throughout India on account of birthday of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar

The Kerala Minimum Wages Notification (Feb 2022)

The Government of Kerala, Labour and Skills (E) Department has revised the variable dearness allowance for employment in Shops and Commercial Establishment and employment in Computer Software Sector. As per the Notification No.DES/859/2022-P3(1) , the Consumer Price Index (Cost of Living Index) Numbers applicable to employees in employment under the Minimum Wages Act (Central Act XI of 1948) for the month of February 2022 ascertained by the Director General of Economics & Statistics under clause (C) of Section 2 of the Act

Declaration Of Paid Holiday On Account Of Bye-Election In West Bengal

The Government of West Bengal vide notification No. Labr/350/(LC-IR)/IR/7S-06/17 has declared paid holiday on 12th April 2022 (Tuesday) for the employees who are working in an industrial undertaking or any other establishments on account of bye election at 40-Asansol Parliamentary Constituency and 161-Ballygunge assembly constituency. Therefore, employers of any business, trade, industrial undertaking or any other establishments of the areas under the said Assembly Constituency shall grant paid holiday on the day of Poll to their workmen who are entitled to cast vote in the election under the Representation of Peoples Act, 1951.

Introduction Of New Slab Rates Under Professional Tax In Gujarat

The Government of Gujarat vide notification no.GHN-35-PFT-2022-S.3(2)(10)-Th, in supersession of notification dated 01st April 2008 has revised the rate of tax under the Gujarat Panchayats, Municipalities, Municipal Corporations and State Tax on Professions, Traders, Callings and Employments Act, 1976. As per the notification, two hundred per month would be levied on the salary and wage earners, whose monthly salary or wages exceeds twelve thousand. No tax shall be levied if the monthly salaries or wages are up to twelve thousand.

Declaration Of Closed Holiday On 14th April 2022 In Andaman And Nicobar Islands

Relaxation Of Time Limit For Filing And Depositing ESI Contribution

The ESIC vide circular No. P-11/12/Misc./1/2019 (M)- Rev.II provided relaxation of the time limit of depositing and filing ESI contributions by the employer. The time limit for depositing contributions for the month of March 2022 is extended from 15th April 2022 to 30th April 2022 and the time limit for filing the return of contribution for the period of October 2021 to March 2022 is extended from 11th May 2022 to 26th May 2022.

Guidelines To Settle the Legitimate Dues Of Workers Under Payment of Bonus Act, 1965 In West Bengal

The Government of West Bengal vide circular No. Labr./420/(LC-IR)/22013/56/2019 has issued guidelines to be followed by all employers and employees of the state covered under the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965 (”Act”). The guidelines require establishments to pay bonus including employees in casual employment/re-employment after retirement/employed through contractors. The guideline further provides that the payments of bonus should be completed by September 23, 2022, to all Muslim employees/workers before Id-UI-Fitre.

Notification On Extension Of Date For Filing Returns Under The Maharashtra State Tax On Professions, Trades, Callings And Employments Act, 1975

The Government of Maharashtra vide notification No. PFT-1222/C.R.8/Taxation-3 extended the last date of filing returns for employers, who could not pay taxes or upload returns due to technical difficulties of the automation system, under the Maharashtra State Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employments Rules, 1975, from March 2022 to May 31st, 2022.

EPFO Circular On Principal Employer To Register And Declaration Of Contractors Under EPF Portal

The EPFO vide circular No.C-I/3(28)2016/7A&14B/Pt./7212 provided additional functionality to the contractor establishment for declaring its principal employers in the EPF portal. Further, the Zonal Offices are required to ensure the registration of principal employer and their contractors.

Circular On Final Withdrawal Of Provident Fund For International Workers

The EPFO vide circular No. IWU/12061/1/2022-IWU/7213 clarified that international workers from Non-SSA countries are eligible for withdrawal of their provident fund accumulations on retirement from services in EPF covered establishments after attaining the age of fifty-eight years.

Order On Extension Of Date For Filing Returns Under The West Bengal State Tax On Professions, Trades, Callings, And Employments Act, 1979

The Government of West Bengal vide Memo No: 75 CT/PRO extended the last date of filing returns in Form-III under the West Bengal State Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings, and Employment Act, 1979, from April 30th, 2022, to May 31st, 2022. The last date for furnishing the return in the paper form has also been extended till June 07th, 2022.

The Government of Karnataka vide notification No. 11/2022 has declared a public holiday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr on 2nd May 2022 (Monday). The same shall also be notified holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881.
